Upcoming at Vivid Solutions DC Archival Print Lab

Portfolio and Photo Sequencing Workshop
with professional photographer Joshua Yospyn

Save the Date: November 28, 7-10 p.m.

This workshop is targeted toward seasoned amateurs and professionals who can benefit from an intelligent peer review of their work. Joshua Yospyn, a professional freelance photographer based in Washington, DC, will lead the workshop. Each of the seven workshop attendees will bring 20-30 prints and spread them out on a large table for everyone in the workshop to see. You will then have 20 minutes to present a body of work, get honest feedback, and defend your intentions. You will receive real feedback to help you move forward on a specific project.

The workshop is $40 per person and everyone is required to bring 20-30 prints. (Preferably 8×10" or 8×12" size.) Not too small that we can’t tell what’s going on, but not too big that we can’t fit all your prints on the table. The workshop is limited to seven people. To reserve your spot please call 202.758.0339. Payment is required to reserve you seat prior to the workshop.

The workshop will be held at Vivid Solutions DC Archival Print Lab, 2208 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. SE, in Historic Anacostia just over the 11th bridge and a 10 minute walk from the Greenline Anacostia Metro Station. Street parking is available.

TechXploration Youth Appathon in Anacostia (Washington, DC)
Register. Volunteer. Contribute. Attend. Share.

DiversiTech and Cause-Driven, with the support of ARCH Development, Lumen8 and Lenovo, are bringing tech to Anacostia youth this summer with TechXploration Youth Appathon. TechXploration will connect high school students with tech innovators and entrepreneurs over the course of two days: Saturday, July 14th – students explore mobile app concepts and run through the process of creating products using Appcelerator® under the direction of Clearly Innovative, a TechXploration partner; and Sunday, July 15th – students participate in Demo Day to present their products and share lessons learned with community members, family and friends. Demo Day will also feature introductions to existing tech programs, like Uplift DC, for students to continue growing their interest in technology!

To make this program a success, your assistance is needed. Here are 5 Ways to Lend a Hand for TechXploration…

  • REGISTER a youth participant before July 7th: No cost. Just fill-out the online form.
  • VOLUNTEER and join in on the fun to help out either day. All hands are welcomed!
  • CONTRIBUTE any amount to help defer some of the costs associated with the program – $5, $10, $15, $20, you name it. Literally, you name it and we will definitely recognize your awesome support and efforts. Sponsorship levels are also available.
  • ATTEND and support participants on Sunday, July 15th for TechXploration Demo Day at Honfleur Gallery in Anacostia, DC.
  • SHARE THIS EMAIL and other provided links with your networks. We appreciate your assistance in continuing to spread the word and excitement!

Special thanks to our Partners: Clearly Innovative, Color of Tech and 100 Black Men

DC:Charity:West Africa: Support Hope Through Health

Please support this organization, if you can. I know that we are all being stretched this in our current economic times, but I think we can all find a few dollars in our daily/weekly/monthly spending to make a difference for this important organization.

Dear HTH Supporter,

In early April, Hope Through Health set out to raise $50,000 to fill a budget shortfall by June 30th, 2012. We have raised over $39,000 to date through pledges and contributions, representing 78% of our ambitious target! However, there is more work to be done. We need to raise an additional $11,000 before June 30th, 2012 to reach our goal.

Help us cross the finish line by donating today

Donate_Now_Blue.gif

Reaching this goal will enable Hope Through Health to continue providing life-saving treatment and comprehensive care to over 2,600 individuals living with HIV/AIDS in Togo. Your gift of:

· $20 per month will provide a person living with HIV adequate nutritional, medical and psychological support
· $25 will ensure that a child orphaned by HIV can attend school
· $200 will increase the likelihood that a mother living with HIV gives birth to a healthy child

Over the past 6 years, our board, staff and supporters like you have shown extraordinary commitment to our friends in Togo. Let’s keep up the tremendous momentum of this campaign! If you haven’t already, I encourage you to JOIN US today.

Please click here to learn more about our programs and to donate before June 30th, 2012!

If you have already donated we thank you for your support and encourage you to forward this email to your friends and family so they can learn about the life-saving work of Hope Through Health in Togo.

On behalf of our colleagues in Togo, thank you for your generous support.

In solidarity,

Melanie Spence
HTH Board President
