Neil,
thanks for reading and taking to time to comment. I am not going to re-open this discussion because it somewhat old news but I will say that as a result of all of the discussion on FB and venues like this blog, BBP decide to compensate the poets better that fill the place at the open mic events.

As far as TSE goes actually he does get name in the newspapers and many publications, both national and international, quite often, maybe you missed it...

I don't recall every saying or even implying being a busboy was not worthwhile work..it along many other types of physical labor are quite honorable. To be quite honest my grandfathers and grandmothers, did that very same kind of work so that my parents and I would not have to do it. My point with that even mentioning that is that Hughes died an elder statesman poet and there are many images depicting him in that fashion, try one of those, the trope of african amer. men in subservient positions is one that is too well worn, particular if the person in question worked hard to transcend it and represent Afr. Amer. life and culture in a different manner.

I dont recall making them claim that i was going to provide analysis, however I did tag it as a rant..so you think it sounds whiney...ok..fine however if we are going to start classifying my blog utterances I would prefer at least one that is in the Afr. Amer oral and aural traditions, more like a moan. some ears have a hard time telling the difference between a whine and moan, history is our evidence of that. Which I am sure you already know as an appreciator and collector of African American art, music and culture.

I hope to see you around some time, thanks again for visiting.

Hmm. Let me understand…. TSE gets his name in the paper (how many times has that happened?), but you choose to gig Andy for PR-whoring? You don't like the money and you don't like that it's a restaurant instead of a poetry center, so you quit. Sounds reasonable—people do that all the time. You don't like the deal and you look for something else. But why are you mad? You seem to think the poets "made" BB&P. Not so. Not so at all. The restaurant doesn't even have to have a stage to make all the coin they might want—it's not a cabaret. Meanwhile the four BB&P locations are sponsoring shows by artists, musicians, filmmakers, and poets. Yes, poets. Plus dialogs on class, race, religion, and sexuality. Your post doesn't sound like an analysis or even a rant, but rather a whine. If you can do it better, do so.

Finally, regarding Langston Hughes as a busboy and how you view it as an insult: What's wrong with busing tables? Is it not worthwhile work? Do you feel that doing physical labor is somehow beneath an artist? You better check yourself and then explain exactly how this is an insult. There's a whole lot of hardworking kitchen staff who'd like to hear your rationale.
